Linectra

Linectra manufactures a high-resolution and high-throughput 3D metal printer. Our patent-pending technology enables rapid production of big parts or simultaneous production of many small parts faster than existing printers. Linectra’s customers (prototyping shops, aerospace, health care) will use Linectra’s 3D metal printer to save on costs and lead time, while producing lighter parts with less material. Linectra is poised to have its first sales-ready machine available in 2017.

The Team

Picture
Brandon Walker (CEO/Co-Founder) will earn his PhD in Medical Physics from UW-Madison in August, 2016. He has experience with vacuum systems, high voltage engineering, microcontrollers, thermal modeling, structural analysis, electron gun design, and programming experience in many languages. This is the fourth company Brandon has co-founded after successfully bringing two previous companies to profitability in 2014.

Rock Mackie, PhD (CSO/Co-Founder) is a serial entrepreneur and emeritus professor of Medical Physics with a PhD in Physics. He has held many titles that range from professor, to Director of Medical Engineering, to co-founder, to investor, and to chairman of the board. Notable successes include Geometrics (whose product is currently owned by Philips Medical Systems) and Tomotherapy (with a peak market capitalization of $1.2B in 2007).

the vision

Linectra is a company with a strong commitment to enabling the technology of tomorrow. Where others see a standard CNC mill, we see a fully automated system producing optimized parts with reduced mass at the touch of a button. We see the rise of a privatized space exploration program where others see a loss of national funding. Where classes teach textbook designs of simplistic support structures, we see a world of intelligent manufacturing where biological and curvilinear optimization reigns supreme.
